Very high speed Internet has become a necessity in
areas such as health care, civil services and education.
This trend is observed by IDATE (centre analyzing
Telecom and Internet sectors) concluding that by 2015,
27% of the European networks will be very high speed!
Today, about 140 FTTx projects are identified in Europe
and their number is still growing. Typical initiators are
the operators or public instances like cities, municipalities,
regions...
Among the existing technologies,
only optical fiber networks can
deliver the speed expected by
the users:
- development of uses,
- simultaneous uses,
- need for symmetric transfers,
- emergence of new uses.
